Job Duties
- Mowing and trimming: Turf assistants may be responsible for operating mowers and trimmers to keep the turf grass at a consistent height and appearance.
- Irrigation: Turf assistants may need to set up and operate irrigation systems to ensure the grass is properly watered.
- Fertilization: Turf assistants may need to apply fertilizers to the turf grass to promote healthy growth.
- Pest control: Turf assistants may need to apply pesticides and herbicides to control pests and weeds that can damage the grass.
- Aeration: Turf assistants may need to use equipment to create small holes in the turf to promote proper air and water circulation.
- Topdressing: Turf assistants may need to apply topdressing to the grass, which is a mixture of sand and soil used to improve the soil quality and reduce thatch buildup.
- Equipment maintenance: Turf assistants may need to clean and maintain equipment, such as mowers and irrigation systems, to ensure they are in good working order.
- Record-keeping: Turf assistants may need to keep records of maintenance tasks performed, such as fertilization and pest control applications.
- Assisting with special events: Turf assistants may need to help prepare and maintain the turf for special events, such as golf tournaments or outdoor concerts.
